What is EFT Tapping - image is of a wooden path leading to horizon of blue skies

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) or Tapping is a self-help method. It’s referred to as “tapping” because involves tapping with your fingertips on acupuncture points on the face, hands, and upper body while focusing on and saying what is bothering you out loud.

Tapping utilizes the same meridian endpoints found in traditional Chinese Medicine while using our ability to think about our issue and notice what part of the problem is really bothering us.

EFT Tapping was developed by Gary Craig and is based on the work of American psychologist Dr Roger Callahan. Dr Callahan was working with a client on her fear of water and she reported feeling the fear in her stomach. When he had her tap on the meridian point associated with the stomach her fear suddenly disappeared.

While such fast results do happen, more often it is necessary to tap on various aspects of a problem for it to completely resolve.

Tapping can be used for a wide range of issues including stress, fears, cravings, weight loss, and pain. It allows you to release uncomfortable feelings such as anger, fear, guilt and change how you experience life.

After a few rounds of tapping people report that the intensity of their emotions has gone down and they feel lighter and calmer.

As you release old emotions, you will gain new insight into your issues and you will notice that your thinking changes. As you transform your thoughts and beliefs, you can then change your behaviour.

Tapping is an amazing tool to use in the moment of intense emotional upset. And it can also be used in a more structured way to make changes in your life.

As you discover the thoughts and beliefs about yourself that are preventing you from achieving what you want, EFT can help you uncover the emotional components and effect lasting change in your life!!
